OUR STORY

Being the presence of Jesus in the community was the original purpose when the church formed in Jamestown in 1889, as Second Reformed Church.  With great faith and determination, a church building was dedicated two years later in 1891.

Tragically, on Christmas Eve 1927, that first vision of the church burned.  With heavy hearts, the building had to be demolished, but with faith another was rebuilt and reincorporated as Jamestown Reformed Church in 1937.  Then in 1999, JRC was once again devastated by fire.

With a steadfast goal of worshipping together again, the current church was built on this new property in 2001. As tragedy can cause hardship and sadness, it can also grow hearts overflowing with faith for the Lord. 

Today, JRC continues to strive to be the presence of Jesus to approximately 400 members in 140 families with approximately 240 worshipping on any given Sunday.  A staff of four coordinate ministries that include pastoral life, church life, youth and worship.  As a church we also desire to be the presence of Jesus to our community and the world. 

Our vision in ministry is to grow its members spiritually and grow the Kingdom in our community.  We hope that you, in whatever place you are in your spiritual journey, will join us in our story of being that presence of Jesus, to each other, the community and the world.


WORSHIP SERVICES

Join us every Sunday morning at 9:30am as we gather in God’s presence and encourage everyone to participate as we bring Him glory through songs of praise and prayer.  We enjoy a blended style of worship and Biblical preaching.


THE REFORMED CHURCH IN AMERICA (RCA)

Jamestown Reformed Church is a member of The Reformed Church in America (RCA).  The RCA is part of the worldwide church of Jesus Christ.  Its history can be traced back to the Netherlands in the seventeenth century. Ultimately the church is rooted in the New and Old Testament, in God's ancient covenant with the Hebrew people.  The RCA’s North American beginnings go back to a worship service in 1628 in a room above a grist mill in what is now New York City. Today the RCA spans two countries, the United States and Canada, and includes about 1,000 churches and 170,000 confessing members - people of diverse ethnicities and many cultures, growing and worshiping God together.
